Eldorado November 2014, No 29 Vol. 2

The Relentless Work

Editorial

This is our second edition of the year, the first having come out in January. A lack of texts and resources is responsible for this long break.

Here is some recent news I’d like to share.

Eldorado-2014-11A few weeks ago, during the annual general meeting, a new board of administration was elected, with three new administrators joining the board: Alain Brulotte, Marc-André Frenette and Bianca Guillemette. As for me, I am no longer a member of the board; I will now concentrate on my position as Director. Giving up the demanding job of Secretary of the board will, I’m sure, allow me to succeed in my new role.

September’s activities went well; even the weather was on our side! The Walk to Fight Familial Ataxias held in Saint-Hyacinthe attracted twice as many people as expected. The first edition of the Défi Ataxie (Ataxia Challenge) cycling event was also a success, allowing us to reach a wider public. One hundred and ten cyclists participated, and we hope to double that number in 2015. The organizers of the walk in Whitby, led by Jason Mills, and Saskatoon, led by Kama Soles, once again created events that mobilized many people and collected funds that are essential to our movement. Jason and Kama, you have all my admiration.

Our ongoing concerted efforts are fostering a greater public awareness of our cause. Our hope of finding treatments for ataxias is reaching a wider audience.
