«Help Kim go dancing! to help thousands do the same.»

Last year’s fund-raising campaign was a huge success: 12 000$ to acquire a mouse model with the gene causing Friedreich Ataxia.

Thanks to your generosity, we have the mice lignage. Yes! It has the defective gene for the production of frataxin, the protein that keeps iron from accumulating in the body, which causes the symtoms of Friedreich Ataxia. It develops the disease the way humans do.

And since good news come in two’s, Dr Tremblay and his team has already treated a young mouse before the symptoms of the disease appear, by injecting it with a gene modified to be healthy that replaces the defective one. Result? It doesn’t develop the disease anymore; it shows no symptoms (Look at the video below: two ataxics mice, one of which has been treated with gene therapy, I let you guess which one!). An excellent improvement!

The goal for this year is to collect $ 15,000. For that Kim has created a donation page where you can give generously. Follow this link:
