Have you ever wondered what it is like to participate in an ataxia natural history study? This type of research study collects data about how specific types of ataxia progress over time. Come learn about the CRC-SCA Natural History Study in Canada! This panel will feature a current study participant and members of the research team from the Centre Hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM). They will talk about what it is like to be part of this study, explain how to get involved, and answer your questions about the CRC-SCA Natural History Study. This panel will be moderated by NAF and Ataxie Canada, with information provided in English and French.

Antoinne Duquette, MD, MSc
Director of the Université de Montréal NAF Ataxia Center of Excellence · Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM)
Dr Duquette is the director of the Université de Montréal NAF Ataxia Center of Excellence and works as a neurologist at Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM) and Lucie-Bruneau rehabilitation center. He completed a master’s degree in neuroscience at Université de Montréal and post-doctoral training in translational research at Harvard University. He is a Principal Investigator for several natural history studies, including CRC-SCA and UNIFAI.
Martine Comeau, BSc, RN, CCRP
Senior Clinical Nurse Coordinator · Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM)
Martine Comeau is the senior clinical nurse coordinator of the Movement Disorder Unit at Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM). She is a Registered Nurse and a Bachelor in Science from the Université de Montréal (UdeM). She is working alongside Dr. Duquette at UdeM NAF Ataxia Center of Excellence and has been the coordinator for CRC-SCA since September 2022.
Lynn Chamilliard
Currently living in Rosemont, Ontario, Lynn grew up in the Toronto area. She goes to the Movement Disorder Clinic at Toronto Western Hospital. Lynn has SCA8 and other members of her family have also tested positive. Prior to retiring in 2022, she ran her own organic market garden business. She has participated in the CRC-SCA study for two years.
Laura Crespo has a BS in Integrative Neuroscience from Binghamton University and 7+ years in a leadership position within intensive clinical research laboratories. In her role, Laura coordinates the CRC-SCA, a NAF-sponsored Natural History Study. She maintains protocols, contracts, IRB documentation, and best data practices. Laura is committed to supporting the needs of the site clinics because she knows that successful management of the CRC-SCA natural history study is crucial to accelerating treatment development for families affected by Ataxia.
