Researchers propose a method to improve the effectiveness of the genomic edition tool, CRISPR-Cas.

Lefil, Université Laval’s journal, published an article presenting the new advances of its researchers to improve the effectiveness of the CRISPR-Cas tool’s in the gene therapy. This research, in collaboration with the Dalhousie University, aims to develop a new strategy to increase the effectiveness of the CRISPR-Cas tool by modifying the targeted gene and simultaneously a second gene. This second modification makes it possible to create cells resistance to the exposure of a plant toxin named ouabain. With this second modification, the efficiency rate of the CRISPR-Cas tool, which can sometimes be less than 1%, increases by 10 to 80%. For more information, see the article here! (Only in French)
